OVERVIEW:

With a little imagination, Cormorant Island, looks like a mini-croissant safeguarded by Vancouver Island to the South and Malcolm Island to the North.

A ferry crossing from Port McNeill will get you to the village of Alert Bay in a about 45-minutes. At almost 5km long and less than a kilometer wide, this diminutive island is bursting with personality.

A combination of vast ocean vistas, abandoned historic buildings and a Mordor forest provides a kaleidoscope of subject matter for the outdoor photography enthusiast.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Northern Vancouver Island has unpredictable weather, so it’s always good to be prepared for all conditions.  Dry feet are important, remember to wear appropriate footwear.  In case it’s windy, dress in layers.  Bring toques, scarves and gloves.

SKILL LEVEL:

It would be great if you know how to use your camera on manual mode using settings like ISO, aperture, shutter speed and the light meter in your camera.  But if not, not to worry, the whole point of the trip is to get to know your camera and improve your photography knowledge and skills.  If you want to chat about this give me a call or send me an email.
